The Love Dare~Day 8~Love is not jealous

In the book it states that there are two different kinds of jealousy.

One is a legitimate kind of jealousy when someone you love turns his heart away from you and replaces you with someone you love.  This is a justifiable type of jealousy.  Although…maybe it’s justifiable…but probably still not a good thing.  Hanging on to jealous feelings can do a lot of damage…’nuff said.

The second kind of jealousy is an illegitimate type of jealousy based on envy.  I think everyone struggles with this type of jealousy.  In the United States it’s probably more prominent because we have so much.  it’s very easy to look around and wish you had what someone else has.  That can lead to lots of trouble….starting with Cain and Abel to Sarah and Hagar to Joseph and his brothers to Jesus and the priests during his time.  I’m sure we all can come up with a situation in which jealousy turned everything bad.  Don’t allow it to come between you and your husband.

In James 3:16 it says “For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.”

I’d say that’s pretty straightforward, don’t you think?

Today’s Love Dare is to become your spouse’s biggest fan and reject any thoughts of jealousy.  Take yesterday’s list with the negative attributes and burn it.  Share with your spouse how glad you are about a recent success he has enjoyed.
