Yesterday I was laying in bed contemplating the power of social networking..went to work…got home and actually saw it in action. Anyone not heard of Amazon’s major fail yesterday? All it took was one angry mama or papa to post about it on their blog or Facebook account and look what happened? A few hours later Amazon (who defended what they were doing at first I might add) had to make some changes.
Now I might be dating myself by saying this but….Power To The People!!!!
It is time we stand up for what is right. The internet has been used to promote some very bad things. It’s time we use this power of the social network to do something good. Everyone out there in the online world has this power…from the person who only has an email account to the larger blogs with thousands of followers.
Do you think it’s important to tell others about Jesus Christ and God’s Word? Well then…how about using your blog to encourage others to read the entire Bible in 90 days? How about tweeting out a Bible verse that means something to you so that someone in another part of the world through retweets can hear the verse at that very moment that they need to hear. Who’s to say that God is not sitting up there right now wondering why more of us are not using something He created to do good?
We have to ability to promote Operation Christmas Child on our blog to make sure that more children are not having to spend a Christmas without a gift. By the way…I had never heard of Operation Christmas Child until last year when I read about it on someone else’s blog. There is at least one more family this year who will support them because of that blog post.
We can post on our Facebook account that there is a family trying to adopt a child and they need help raising the money. Your few dollars added to someone else’s few can help to give a child a family. A family!! How huge is that??
I know that there some incredibly creative people out there and so many other social networking opportunities that I couldn’t possibly list them all. Wouldn’t it be amazing if we used all of the social networks available to promote God’s Word and His works?
